Does anybody know what is special about the Tag Heuer Carrera Automatic watch (WV211B.BA0787) from a watchmaker’s point of view?

My repairmen see nothing so special about it. Edouard Heuer began his firm in 1860 and gained a reputation for chronographs. By the 1970′s, the firm was having difficulties, like many other Swiss watchmakers, who had trouble competing with Japanese quartz watches. TAG (Techniques d’Avante Garde) bought it in 1985. This firm uses mostly the standard ETA movements used by 97% or more of Swiss and German watch brands. One repairman I know well says TAG Heuer uses cheaper grades of these movements. I am not a repairman, so I do not know as much as a repairman does about movements, but I read many watch books, magazines and almanacs. I read that IWC uses top grade ETA movements and rejects many of them. Ones it uses are finished by hand. I have little doubt that an IWC watch is better than a TAG Heuer. Some of my best watches are by Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe, and these brands make their own movements, that are costlier and finer than any by ETA. TAG Heuer is making a few of its own innovative movements by now, but the last I heard, ETA movements were in the Carrera, and I doubt that they are top quality. My repairmen don’t think so.
