I Built a Computer and it doesn’t work?
My build is
Motherboard Asus p7p55d deluxe
processor i5 750 quad core
RAM 2x 2gb DDR3 Corsair
power supply OCZ 600w
graphics card Radeon 5850
sound card Creative Labs Sound Blaster
Hard drive SATA Western Digital hard drive
Have never set up bios no os can’t get that far.
My screen doesn’t receive a signal and i don’t get any sound from my speakers. Also the DRAM led light on the mother board lights up red and does not go off.
First computer I ever tried building unfortunately I don’t have an anti static wrist band but I was careful to touch the computer case before touching any parts.
PLEASE help I know this spec has the potential to be BA
What memory speed are you using? I checked your MB’s specs and it doesn’t have 1066mhz listed.
So BIOS isn’t displaying? Even without an OS installed, the BIOS will always show. If this is so, set the CD drive to “boot” instead of the hard drive, insert the OS CD, and restart the computer. From there, you can install Windows 7.
From what I see, all the components are compatible, but I don’t know if it supports the 1066mhz RAM speed. Current MBs support it and yours should too.
The Canyon Man And His Fight Against Modern Technology
By now, most everybody understands that modernity is here to stay and there’s no going back. Modern technologies are everywhere one cares to look, and it’s even been rumored that the Amish are going to be putting their horses in the latest footgear that’s designed to get more than 50 miles per bag of oats out of them. There’s no escaping technology, it seems.
All kidding aside about the Amish, it’s still a fact that there’s one guy running around — who last updated his wardrobe when Dick Clark was a swinging young man fresh from Philadelphia — around the neighborhood. Call him ‘Canyon Man, ‘ and make sure to also call him a mechanic to help him repair the 40-year-old heap in front of his house he refuses to part with, even to the point of wanting to be buried in it.
Indeed, he’s running around with a leather watch band and an old analog watch that was a gift to him from his father when he graduated from elementary school back when Lyndon Johnson was running the show down in Washington DC. And it’s not all about nostalgia or his father, either; this guy really doesn’t know what to do with a digital watch and would probably run in horror from it if you got him one.
Canyon Man is also uncomfortable with any sort of viewing technology when it comes to a television that doesn’t have something to do with a large picture tube sitting inside of a console that that resembles the log cabin that Abraham Lincoln probably went to law school in or something that Noah threw overboard once his ark made landfall.
It will be a fair bet — in fact, this kind of bet should be taken all the way to the bank — that Canyon Man won’t be coming anywhere near something like a custom LCD television at anytime in the near or far future. He also probably has never heard the words ‘DVD player’ (let alone ‘VCR’) in his life without uttering a string of profanities once those words had hit his auditory sensory organs, otherwise known as ‘ears.’
What will Canyon Man do when he realizes that the television he owns can no longer pick up signals without the benefit of something called a ‘digital converter box?’ He may just pass out after hearing the words ‘digital converter box, ‘ in fact. He probably would also suffer a fatal cardiac event if he heard ‘liquid crystal display’ and how it’s lit through means of LED backlight technologies. It’ll be just too much for him and his brain, unfortunately.
For those standing on the sidelines — fully ensconced in all things digital and wondering why Canyon Man continues to tilt at his imaginary windmills — take comfort in knowing that he is out there acting somewhat like a canary in a coal mine, sitting in his 40-year-old beater mobile and sporting his studio 54 leisure suits. If aliens ever decide to baffle us through digital waves, he’ll be there to warn us that they’re on to us, and that’s a fairly comforting thought, it must be admitted.
